The committee passed this decision, as the president of Ukraine qualified the bill as urgent, while the schedule of the ninth session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the sixth convocation does not allow scrutiny of the bill in the last week of October 2011, a week of work with voters.
If the Verkhovna Rada endorses the draft resolution, the committee will scrutinize the bill on October 19, 2011.
The bill (Reg. No. 9221) was adopted in the first reading on October 6, 2011. Under the bill, economic crimes are punishable by fine instead of imprisonment.
